For applicants who have been offered employment, the Board performs a criminal background check and motor vehicle record check. In order to ensure that applicants are physically able to perform the duties of the position they seek, the Board requires the applicant to undergo a physical examination (paid for by the Board). The results of this exam are confidential and note only whether or not the applicant is physically able to perform the essential functions of the work in question. As part of this examination, the applicant will undergo a drug screen. The test will detect the presence of alcohol, illegal drugs, and illegally used drugs. Applicants who test “positive” will not be considered for employment. In addition, applicants will be tested to determine if they have Tuberculosis.
