June’s Employee Spotlight of the Month: SSA Tayler Stroup
Join us as we pay tribute to the incredible staff, we have here at the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities (BCBDD) through our appreciation series called “The Employee Spotlight of the Month!” Every month, we will spotlight a new employee so that we can share with the community the wonderful things our employees are doing every day!
Congratulations to Tayler Stroup, June’s Employee Spotlight winner! Tayler, who graduated from Miami University, has been a licensed social worker since 2010. The same year Tayler earned her social worker license, she worked as an intern at the BCBDD where she assisted in providing Information and Referral (I&R) about resources and services available within the Butler County community and how individuals and families could access them.
After spending some time in the mental health field, Tayler landed the Service and Support Administrator (SSA) role at the BCBDD. Now, Tayler is an SSA team lead and those that work with her say she has been a great addition to the BCBDD team because she has not only “stepped up,” but has really tackled her new position!
“Tayler is a great addition to my team,” SSA Supervisor, Dena Freeman said. “She is always supportive to the team and is ready to answer any questions that we have. She is working with several intense situations and continues to smile and see the fun in her job. She is so good at her job that people ask to stay with her when she is covering their cases. Parents, individuals, and her team really appreciate her and all her hard work!”
Tayler said her interest in working with individuals with disabilities sparked in first grade when she helped in a classroom for children with intellectual disabilities.
“I’ve always had an interest in working with individuals with disabilities,” Tayler said. “My grandfather worked and retired from the BCBDD so that sparked my interest in working here. I love getting the opportunity to assist people in creating a life that they want.”
In addition to leading a team of SSA’s, Tayler participates in BCBDD “Cookies and Connections,” and is involved in many other community outreach activities and organizations, including the ARC of Butler County.
“I love getting involved and volunteering in the community, ” Tayler said. “I have volunteered at Night To Shine two times and I love going to see everyone have a good time!”
