Vaccine Distribution Updates

As the State of Ohio heads into Phase 1B of Governor DeWine’s vaccination distribution plan, we wanted to give you some helpful information.

We are thrilled to be a part of the distribution process and are eager to provide access to vaccines to as many as possible. We have received quite a few questions and below you’ll find some answers to those questions.

When is the next vaccine clinic? 

  • Due to the nation-wide vaccine shortage, we currently do not have access to vaccines through our local health departments. We do not know when more vaccines will become available but when they do, we will be in touch with those who are eligible to receive one.  
  • Our role in the vaccination process is to connect anyone in our system who is eligible to our local health departments. We do not store vaccines or even receive them. We simply connect people in our system with a vaccine provider. 
  • We are working with three separate health departments: the City of Hamilton, the City of Middletown, and the Butler County General Health District. Each has a different method for getting the vaccine out to people. If you are in our system and qualify for a vaccine, we will be in touch with more information when vaccines become available. 

I was told to call my local county board for a vaccine. 

  • We are aware that some people are being told by local pharmacies or even their doctors to contact us for a vaccine. Unfortunately, we do not have vaccines available and do not know when they will become available. 
  • If you are in our system as someone with a developmental disability, we are aware of you and have the means to contact you. As vaccines become available, we will be in contact with anyone who qualifies. 

I do not have a developmental disability, but I believe I qualify for Phase 1A or Phase 1B 

  • Our access to vaccines is limited specifically for people with developmental disabilities and the qualifications within these phases are based on guidance from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities a well as our local health departments. If you do not fall under our umbrella, we are unable to provide access to a vaccine. 
  • If you live in Butler County and believe you qualify for a vaccine in Phase 1A or Phase 1B, you can take this survey at the Butler County General Health District. This is not a vaccination waitlist or vaccination scheduling system of any sort. There is no guarantee that by completing this survey you will receive the vaccine from BCGHD.

When will I receive my second vaccine? 

  • We do not know when vaccines will become available for the second round of vaccinations. There is not a select window of time in which you must receive the second dose, it simply must be more than 28 days after the first dose. 
  • Research suggests the first round of vaccination does provide some immunity to the virus. 

Should I try to get a vaccine elsewhere? 

  • If you have access to a vaccine from another source, you are encouraged to seek that route. We do not know when more vaccines will be available to our list of eligible recipients. 
  • If you live in Butler County, you can take this survey provided by the Butler County General Health District. This is not a vaccination waitlist or vaccination scheduling system of any sort. There is no guarantee that by completing this survey you will receive the vaccine from BCGHD.
