Ancillary Services
Services through the Ancillary Services Division include behavior supports, nursing, and occupational/physical/speech therapy. Ancillary Services are available to all DD eligible individuals in both supported living and community settings.
Behavior Supports
Behavior Support Services develops positive behavior programming that is consistent with the Ohio Department of DD Behavior Support Rule. The primary goal of Butler County Board of DD is to provide positive behavior supports to meet the health and safety needs of eligible individuals. Below are the services available through the referral process.
- Family Focus & Counseling Services
The Family Focus program offers in home positive behavior supports and counseling services. Families are offered individualized support techniques and individuals are taught self control strategies, anger management techniques, problem solving skills and more. These services as well as counseling services for individuals with mental health concerns are offered to the family in their home. The focus is for personal growth and adjustment of the individual. This may involve individual as well as group activities. Techniques such as problem solving therapy, crisis intervention, anger management, and grief counseling are available.
- Classroom Consultant
The Classroom Consultant works with the school districts in Butler County to provide training and support to teachers and students. They work as part of the Individual Education Plan/IEP Team to develop supports specific to individual student needs.
- Community Behavior Supports
Individuals eligibile for Butler County Board of DD services and who live in a supported residential setting have access to Community Behavior Supports. These supports include positive alternative behaviors for the individual and training for their staff. Community Behavior Supports is part of a larger team of people identified to support individuals living in the community.
- Day Habilitation Behavior Supports
Behavior supports are available to all individuals attending a Butler County Board of DD operated Day Habilitation Program at Liberty Center. These services focus on the individual and their particular behavior support needs in the day program setting. These services are identified in the Individual Plan developed for each person.

Therapy Services
The Butler County Board of DD has Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy available to the individuals and families being served by the agency.
Speech and Language Therapy: Therapists provide communicative supports to individuals, children, and their families to promote functional communication skills across various environments.
Occupational Therapy: This specialty assists individuals to functions in their environments. Therapists may also work on range of motion and flexibility.
Physical Therapy: Therapists recommend and design orthopedic devices that will enhance stability and assist in movement. These devices may be walkers, canes, leg braces, wheelchairs, etc. The therapist will assist in fitting and training in the use of these devices. (Occupational and Physical Therapists focus on providing safe and effective environments for functional skills based on individual needs. Activities may include adaptive equipment, input on wheelchair needs, training, staff and range of motion.)
