HIPAA Statement and Information
The Butler County Board of DD is doing its part to help preserve the privacy of the individuals we serve. With this in mind, the DD Programs comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a federal law regulating how health plans may use and disclose protected health information. Everyone who is served by the Butler County DD Programs, or their guardian, received a notice of the enrolleeās privacy rights by April 14, 2003. This notice describes what information about them may be shared without their approval and what information needs their permission before it is shared. Anyone enrolled after April 14, 2003 also receive the notice at the time of their enrollment to BCBDD.
