There are specific ongoing training requirements, based on services you are certified to provide. Training is available through a variety of sources, as listed below. Agency providers are required to provide training for their employees.
Annual Requirements for All Direct Service Staff/Independent Providers
- Incidents Adversely Affecting Health and Safety (MUI/UI) including a review of health and welfare alerts issued by the department since the previous year's training
- The Rights of Individuals set forth in sections 5123.62 to 5123.64 of the Revised Code
- The Roles and Responsibilities of direct services staff with regard to services including person-centered planning, community integration, self-determination, and self-advocacy
Additional Annual Requirements for HPC and Shared Living Providers

Beyond the Basics is a premier interactive training series offered by the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The series aims to help providers, Support Coordinators, family members and other interested stakeholders move “beyond the basics” of service provision and into the emerging future of community inclusion. Participants will receive cutting-edge information and learn innovative strategies and techniques from Subject Matter Experts while building an advanced knowledge of today’s field.
